Cocktail jug drink trends that are back in 2022

Aperol Spritz

Aperol Spritz has been on the rise since it’s beginnings in little bars across Northern Italy. The famous Spritz drink has since gone intercontinental and spread through the globe refreshing one human at the time. For those who have not tasted this deliciously light, refreshing and uniquely bittersweet drink yet it is a perfect way to start the evening. The recipe is very simple and with the right ingredients and enough orange slices, can be made within minutes!

Aperol Spritz Jug
Serves four. Approximately 5.22 standard drinks per jug.

Ingredients:
360ml prosecco
240ml Aperol
120ml soda water
8 fresh orange wedges to garnish

Method

  1. Combine prosecco and Aperol in jug.
  2. Garnish with orange, top with ice and soda water.
  3. Serve in short glasses half full with ice and half an orange wheel.

Classic Margarita Jug

All around the word there are many people that can share some very good stories that include a good ‘ol fashioned classic margarita. Achieving the perfect balance between sweetness and saltiness of the lime, tequila and grand marnier will guarantee you with a jug that will give your taste pallet something to drool about.

This recipe you can personalise to your own liking, do you like it more sweet? Add more simple syrup. Prefer a little more citrusy drinks? Add more lime. That’s the beauty of creating your own cocktails! Another tip I’d highly recommend would to invest in a good cocktail shaker (…) , combine this with crushed ice in a shaker and your margarita will be mixed to perfection.

Classic Margarita Jug.
Serves four. Approximately 5.22 standard drinks per jug.

Ingredients:

150 ml tequila

100 ml triple sec

75 ml Lemon Juice (Freshly Squeezed is the nicest!)

4 Lime Slices for the Garnish

For the simple syrup

  • 1 1/2 cups water
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar

thinly sliced lime, for garnish & coarse margarita salt for rimming your glasses

Method

Begin by making the simple syrup. Add water to a medium saucepan and bring to a boil. Add the sugar and stir until dissolved. Remove from heat and let cool completely.

  1. To make the margaritas, fill a large pitcher about halfway with crushed ice (if you’re serving right away – if not, don’t add the ice until right before you serve it!).
  2. Add the tequila, Grand Marnier, lime juice, the cooled simple syrup, and a handful of thinly sliced limes.
  3. Stir to combine.
  4. Rim your glasses with coarse salt, and fill with crushed ice.

Pour over the crushed ice, and garnish with a lime slice!

Espresso Martini

Espresso Martini’s are the perfect drink to impress your guests, especially if they are coffee lovers. The coffee industry has been booming with new recipes, from take away ice coffee’s in a can to home made cake’s with coffee beans! This combination of ingredients create a sweet, rich, smooth, and utterly delicious drink that is perfect for not only after-dinner but also before, creating an explosion of taste that will wake you up as you sip. Before you start this recipe a beneficial tip would be to make sure to cool the coffee completely after brewing it so that you don’t melt the ice and water down your drink. This can be done by placing the coffee in the freezer or refrigerator while you prepare the other ingredients!

Ingredients:

 300ml vodka

210ml coffee liqueur, such as Kahlúa, Tia Maria or coffee tequila

150ml freshly brewed espresso coffee

A few handfuls of ice

Coffee beans to serve (optional)

Method

  1. Brew the coffee then pour into a bowl to cool quickly.
  2. Fill the cocktail shaker with ice then add the cooled coffee, vodka and simple syrup.
  3. Then add the Kahula.
  4. Shake the cocktail very hard in the cocktail shaker.
  5. Strain the espresso martini into martini glasses.
  6. Top with three coffee beans, serve

All cocktails are best served cold. Ensure that the last drop of your jug is as tasty and cold as the first. Keep your cocktail jug in a Coolenator bottle cooler. This will ensure it stays ice cold for up to 8 hours.
