DIY Christmas Gift Ideas

Gifts created from scratch tend to be less expensive than store-bought ones and tend to have a more personal touch because of the personalization. Made-from-scratch presents are well known for being not only less expensive but also more meaningful because of the personal touch that goes along with them.

Even though they’re useful and easy to create, I’m sure a lot of you, like me, don’t have a lot of experience with crafting. So, we have rounded up some brilliant ideas of such as DIY Christmas gift ideas for you.

A cup warmer could be a great pick for tea lovers. It will keep their drinks warm for longer. You can easily construct it from an old sweater. Check out this video on how to make one from scratch.

2. Homemade Body Scrub

Anyone who enjoys a little pampering will adore the handmade sugar or honey body scrub. And to add a little more magic to it, pretty glass jars, I believe, would be ideal. Some recipes are as simple as coconut oil and sugar!

3. Second Life Bookends

Give your bookworm friends this as a second present. Plastic animals from charity stores or Dollar Stores, together with leftover bits of wood, may be used to create some adorable bookends. The possibilities are limitless. Explore Pinterest for more ideas or step-by-step guides.

3. Pillows with Your Personal Touch

You can make cozy cool pillows at home if you’re handy with a needle and thread. I am in love with the adorable and simple pillow coverings displaying embroidered floral work. Follow this step by step guide on how to do it.

4. Gift Hampers

Gift hampers are an easy way to collect smaller gifts and make one nice parcel out of it! Gift hampers can be for all occasions from Christmas Hampers to coffee lover gift hampers to a sangria gift basket. A gift hamper is a great personalised gift as it is tailored to the recipient.

How to make a gift hamper!

Theme your hamper!

Depending on the occasion your hamper will differ. A baby hamper would be very different than a get well soon hamper. If you are unsure about the theme or you want a more general hamper consider who the basket is for and what are their interests and hobbies.

Decide on your budget

Your gift hamper can be as expensive as you like. You really don’t need to spend much to make a great gift hamper. A little creativity goes a long way when choosing what you put in the gift. For really budget friendly hampers DIY made gifts are the most budget friendly.

What to put in your hamper

This depends on your theme. For a baby shower you would put baby items in there or self care items for the mother. A get well soon basket could contain some soup, tissues or a nice book to read, for example. A 21st birthday hamper could contain some nice champagne glasses and a personalised wine cooler for example. A coffee lovers hamper could contain coffee beans and a old school coffee filter.

The world is your oyster when it comes to creativity for hampers. Choose a theme, set your budget and make a list of all items you can think of they would love. Then whittle it down to match your budget. Have fun in the process of making your basket, good luck!
